Wladimir calls for respect

Wladimir Klitschko believes David Haye will be made to pay for showing him a lack of respect when the pair clash in Hamburg on July 2.

Build-up to the mega-money fight at the Imtech Arena is well under way, with four belts up for grabs on the night itself.

Haye previously stated that the Klitschko brothers "have spoilt the reputation of heavyweight boxing for too long and it's time for somebody to show people what it used to be about: excitement, knockouts, personality, and risk-taking. I believe I'm the guy to bring all that back on 2 July."

But Wladimir insists Haye will be made to eat his words come the night of the fight.

"You do a lot of tweeting right, well you can send this to all your followers later. Wladimir said that David Haye is going to be my 50th knockout."
Wladimir Klitschko Quotes of the week

"It's going to be a very good lesson for you on July 2nd. A lesson of how to show respect," Klitschko told WBA champion Haye.

"I really respect you. You are a tremendous fighter, you are a knock-outer, your record is very impressive, so I'll make sure that I will prepare for this fight accordingly.

"You do a lot of tweeting, right? Well you can send this to all your followers later: 'Wladimir said that David Haye is going to be my 50th knockout'".

Klitschko's manager Bernd Bonte does not rate Haye as the most difficult test for his fighter.

"Wladimir thinks that he (Haye) is not the toughest opponent he has faced but let's see," Bonte said.

"I think it is a very interesting fight and it is the first time we have had a unification fight in many years."

Bonte acknowledged the bad feeling between the two fighters - "They definitely don't like each other, that's for sure" - and insisted IBF, IBO and WBO champion Klitschko is ready for the fight despite a recent abdominal injury.

"Everything is fine and all of his problems are gone," Bonte told Sky Sports.

"He went to a short training camp in Florida and everything is OK."

Bonte rejected reports that British fans of WBA world heavyweight champion Haye were not being given an equal chance to secure tickets for the fight in Hamburg.

"The ticketing was merely a problem in the media and it is first come, first serve basis - I'm very happy that many British fans will come and hopefully we have some atmosphere here in Hamburg," he said.

Bonte also defended the billing for the fight which seems to favour Klitschko.

"I think that if you look at the promotion from an objective view on this fight Wladimir has been champion since 2006 and I see four belts whereas David Haye has only one," he added.
